The story

Venna Lake is one of the main attractions of the hill station of Mahabaleshwar. It was created in 1842 by Shahaji, the last raja of the princely state of Satara, and lies about 2 km from the town market and bus stand.

Trees surround the water. Visitors can hire boats to row or paddle on the lake, or take a horse ride along its banks, and a line of small eateries along the shore serves snacks between outings.
