The story

The Vajreshwari Devi Temple, also known as Bajreshwari Mata or the Kangra Devi Temple, stands in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. Its goddess is Vajreshwari, a fierce form of Durga who rules the thunderbolt; the name joins vajra, thunderbolt, and ishwari, goddess. She is believed to have slain the demon Kalikala with a divine thunderbolt.

The temple is counted among the 51 Shakta pithas, where Sati's left breast is believed to have fallen. Within the complex are several smaller temples to other Hindu deities, as well as a temple of Bhairava.
