The Tomb of Mir Madan lies at Faridpur, in the Beldanga II block of Murshidabad district, close to the battlefield of Palashi (Plassey). The Archaeological Survey of India lists it among West Bengal's monuments of national importance.
Mir Madan was a trusted officer of Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah and commanded his artillery. At the Battle of Plassey on 23 June 1757 he fought on for the Nawab while the commander-in-chief Mir Jafar and others held back, and his men put heavy pressure on the East India Company's forces. At about 2 pm a British cannonball wounded him fatally, and two comrades, Nawe Singh Hajari and Bahadur Khan, also fell. Some of his soldiers buried him in secret at Faridpur village in Rejinagar, at a spot known as Farid Shah's Dargah.
