This tomb in Chirag Delhi, a settlement inside the walls of the Tughlaq city of Jahapanah, is held to be the grave of Bahlul Khan Lodi, who founded the Lodi dynasty and ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1451 to 1489. His son and successor Sikandar Khan is said to have built it after his death. The identification is disputed, and some historians place Bahlul's grave at the Sheesh Gumbad in Lodi Gardens instead.
The building lies in the alleys behind the shrine of Nasiruddin Mahmud, Chirag-e-Dilli, near whom the king wished to be buried. Built of rubble masonry, it has five domes, the central one fluted, and arched facades on red sandstone columns with medallions and Quranic verses incised in plaster. About a dozen graves lie in the open nearby. The ASI repaired the tomb in 2005, clearing earth and rebuilding missing parts with the help of old photographs.
