The story

Thonnallur Pattupurakkavu Bhagavathi Temple is at Pandalam, a kilometre north of Pandalam junction on the Thiruvananthapuram–Angamaly MC Road. Bhadrakali is the main deity, with shrines to Ganapathi, Shiva, Subrahmanyan, the Navagrahas, serpent deities and several others. The grounds hold an anakkottil for elephants, a holy pond and banyan trees, along with a wedding hall and a stage for cultural events. In 2010 the temple hosted the first Devi Bhagavatha Sathram held in Kerala.

The yearly festival falls on Aswathy day in Meenam, with special pujas, temple arts and cultural programmes, and the anniversary of the idol's installation is marked each June. Navratri is celebrated at a separate mandapam near the central junction, where Saraswati is worshipped, with Carnatic concerts and Vidyarambham at the close. Muslims and Christians sit on its organising committee alongside Hindus.
