01 — The story

Valiyakoikkal Temple, the household temple of Pandalam's royal family, stands within the grounds of the Pandalam Palace in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. Its main deity is Ayyappan.

Every year before the Makaravilakku festival, the procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam, the sacred ornaments of Ayyappan, sets out from this temple for the Sabarimala shrine. Millions of devotees visit the temple during the Makaravilakku season.
