Known formally as H.E.H. the Nizam's Museum, this collection is housed in Purani Haveli, a palace of the former Nizams in Hyderabad. The Nizam Trust opened it to the public on 18 February 2000. It holds mainly the souvenirs, gifts and mementos that dignitaries presented to Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII, the last Nizam of Hyderabad State, at his silver jubilee celebrations in 1936.
Among the exhibits are the golden throne used for the jubilee, a gold tiffin box set with diamonds, a miniature of the Jubilee Hall, silver models of Hyderabad's landmark buildings with Urdu citations, jewelled gold daggers and caskets, diamond-studded silver coffee cups and a silver filigree elephant with its mahout. Vintage cars include a 1930 Rolls-Royce, a Packard and a Jaguar Mark V. Also on show are the sixth Nizam's 176-foot walk-through wardrobe, proclamation drums some 200 years old and a hand-operated lift of about 150 years. In September 2018 thieves broke in and stole several jewelled gold pieces; they were caught the next week.
