Thangkharang Park lies in the hills around Cherrapunjee and sits on a rock outcrop, giving wide views of the surrounding green hills and valleys and of the plains below, which are often under mist. Maintained walking paths run through the grounds.
The park supports a varied mix of small animals and butterflies, part of the wider biodiversity of the area. It also lies within a network of limestone caves, where stalactites and stalagmites have built up over thousands of years, making the site of interest for its geology as well as its scenery.
