The story

Tadiandamol, also spelt Thadiyandamol, rises to 1,748 metres in the Western Ghats in Kodagu district and is the highest mountain of Madikeri taluk. In Karnataka only Mullayanagiri and Kudremukh stand taller. The Kodava name is read as 'broad base' or 'broad hill', and more loosely as 'tallest mount'.

Trekkers and naturalists come for the climb, which can be done there and back as a day hike in about five hours. Entry closes at 5 pm, and camping has been banned since December 2016. Patches of shola forest fill the valleys, and late July to September, after the monsoon, is recommended for seeing the slopes at their greenest. At the foot of the mountain stands the Nalaknad palace, also called Nalnad, an important historical landmark.
