The story

Sweet Falls, known locally as Kshaid Weitden, is a waterfall about 5 km from Happy Valley near Shillong in Meghalaya. It drops about 96 metres (315 ft) and is often called both the most beautiful and the most dangerous waterfall around Shillong. Pine trees cover the surrounding slopes, along with plants such as Eupatorium, Lantana, Rubus and ferns.

A road reaches the site, but visitors are not allowed near the fall itself because the path is poor and the drop treacherous. The waterfall has a grim record of deaths, including many suicides, and local people believe it is haunted: a group that arrives in odd numbers, so the saying goes, returns in even numbers.
