The story

Suga Bandh is a little-visited waterfall in the forested hills of Latehar district, lying off the road that links the hill resort of Netarhat with Betla National Park. Its water comes from the North Koel River, and the fall drops roughly 35 m through wooded, rocky country into a pool at the base.

The name is usually explained as "the parrot's dam". In the local story a parrot searching for water for its mate found the hidden fall but could not drink from the force of the stream, so it piled up small stones to hold back a pool. Visitors come for forest walks and short treks, photography, picnics on the rocks and a cooling dip in the pool below the fall.
