St. Stanislaus Forane Church, still in active use by Syro-Malabar Catholics, stands in Mala, in the Thrissur district of Kerala, built in 1840. Its claim to attention is its patron: St Stanislaus Kostka, a Polish saint who lived from 1550 to 1568, and no other church in Asia is reputed to have him as patron.
Well-known families of Mala donated the land for it. They went on to form the Darshanan Sabha, a Portuguese tradition that the church still keeps in practice today.
