The story

The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, called Moonjeli Palli or Nithyasahaya Matha Palli by local people, is a Syro-Malabar parish church of the Eparchy of Irinjalakuda. It stands on the Chalakudy–Ashtamichira Road at the hamlet of Munjeli, about 1 km from Chalakudi railway station. Fr. Jose Vezhaparambil of the Franciscan Clarist Convent at Kottat began the effort to build it in 1962 for Catholic families of West Chalakudy; the foundation stone was laid in 1963 and the church consecrated in 1966.

The grounds hold a grotto of Mary, and the carved stone lamp in front of it and the church flagpost draw on Kerala temple architecture. The main feast, of Mary, falls on the first Sunday from 10 August onwards with sermons and fireworks. St Sebastian's feast falls on the last Sunday of January, and on 19 March the Oottu Perunal of St Joseph sees food served to all who come.
