Sri Sai Janmasthan Temple, Pathri

Sri Sai Janmasthan Temple, the Sai Baba Birth Temple, stands in Pathri in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra. It rests on a contested claim: field research in the 1970s claimed that Sai Baba was born in this village, an idea that has been the subject of controversy.

Following that research a local body, the Sri Sai Smarak Samiti, was formed. The committee bought land on the site of what it held to be his family house and began building in 1994. The temple opened to the public in 1999.
