The story

Shahid Major Pradeep Tathawade Udyan, usually called Major Tathawade Garden, is a public park in Pune run by the garden department of the Pune Municipal Corporation. It opened on 31 October 2002 and honours Major Pradeep Tathawade, killed in action against militants in Poonch in June 2000, and his life-size statue stands at the gate.

The park spreads over 2.75 acres, with a 260 m jogging track around its edge, several fountains, a children's play area and an artificial fish pond at the centre. Its most prominent exhibit is a Pakistani tank from an Indo-Pak war, presented to the corporation by the Indian Army. A stage facing the lawn is used for public performances.
