The Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary is a protected forest in Mangan district of North Sikkim, close to the Yumthang Valley and the Yumthang River. It is best known for its rhododendrons: more than 40 species grow here, some of them rare or found only in this region, and in spring the slopes turn red, pink and white when they flower.
Besides the flowering trees, the sanctuary shelters animals such as the red panda and the Himalayan black bear, along with a wide range of birds, which makes it popular with birdwatchers and photographers. Several walking and trekking trails run through the forest. Rhododendron honey, sold locally, is the best-known product of the area, and visits are often combined with the Yumthang hot springs and Zero Point further up the valley.
