The story

Shri Viswa Vinayaka Mandir, or Ganesh Mandir, honours Ganesha at Rundung Village in Rhenock, Pakyong district, Sikkim. The foundation stone was laid on 20 April 2008, and the temple was inaugurated on 3 October 2016 by Dinesh Chandra of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, with former chief minister Pawan Chamling. It occupies land where the Radha Krishna Mandir once stood.

The four-storey building rises 108 feet in a complex of 2.56 acres. It holds 51 forms of Ganesha, described as a first in the North East Region, and the main altar has a 12-foot statue with 16 hands. Large statues of the gods and demons of the Samudra Manthan are another attraction, and there is also a Shivling and a statue of Hanuman. Much of the material came from Thailand, and artisans came from Nepal and West Bengal.
