The story

The Shish Mahal is a palace in Gurugram known for its glasswork. Local folklore credits its construction to a ruler of the area who wanted a building to rival the grandeur of ancient kingdoms, inspired by stories of legendary palaces lined with mirrors.

The interiors are covered in detailed mirror work and fine glass mosaics, and the decorated surfaces show scenes from mythology and royal life. Domes, arched doorways, chandeliers and marble floors complete the building, which reflects the skill of the craftsmen who made it.
