01 — The story

The story

Pataudi Palace stands in the town of Pataudi in Gurugram district and was the seat of the princely state of Pataudi, whose family includes the cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. The palace has 150 rooms, each furnished differently with memorabilia gathered by members of the family, and covers about 10 acres with lawns and gardens, a Durbar Hall and large vintage chandeliers.

Between 2005 and 2014 it was leased to Francis Wacziarg and Aman Nath of Neemrana Hotels and operated as a hotel. In 2014 Saif Ali Khan bought the property back and had it renovated with interior designer Darshini Shah. Many Hindi films have been shot here. Close by is Akbar Manzil, built after 1857 as the Nawab's official residence, later turned into a court complex and now used as a storehouse.
