The story

Sharvani Devasthan is a temple to the goddess Shri Devi Sharvani, also written Sharavani, and to Vetoba, or Vetal, who is worshipped here in the form of Shiva. It stands in Salgaonwada, in the village of Adavalpal, close to Bicholim town in North Goa.

This was not the first home of the goddess, whose original temple was at Saligaon. She is the patron deity of several families and groups, among them the Salgaonkars, Prabhus, Naiks, Shenais or Sinais, Dhonds and Petkars. The Marathi literary critic M. V. Dhond is among the notable people connected with the temple.
