The story

Shani Dham Temple stands in Asola, a suburb of Delhi, and is dedicated to the Hindu deity Shani. Its focus is a large image of the god made of rock, unveiled on 31 May 2003 and described as the largest in the world.

The complex has two parts. The eastern side holds this idol and idols of the twelve Jyotirlingas. On the western side, large statues show Shani on the buffalo and on the vulture, with an idol of Hanuman to their right, an oblation pool and the nine planets in idol form. The temple also has a library, a research centre, a publication department and offices for enquiries and reception. Saturdays are usually crowded, and religious programmes run through the year.
