01 — The story

The story

The Garden of Five Senses is a 20-acre landscaped park in Delhi conceived by the architect Pradeep Sachdeva to stimulate touch, sight, smell, sound and taste. Rocky outcrops and level ground are divided into themed zones with pools, waterfalls, sculptures and rock carvings, and nearly 200 plant species, some rare or endangered, grow here.

A spiral path leads to the Khas Bagh, a Mughal-style formal garden with water channels and fountains, some lit by fibre optics. The Trail of Fragrance climbs to a ridge with a steel sculpture, while Neel Bagh has a water lily pool under pergolas and hundreds of ceramic chimes. There is also an amphitheatre for cultural events, a solar area, a food and shopping court, and guided Nature Walks.
