The story

Rajon ki Baoli, also called Rajon ki Bain, is a stepwell in the Mehrauli Archaeological Park in South Delhi, near Adham Khan's Tomb and the Gandhak ki Baoli. Daulat Khan Lodi, an administrator of the Lodi dynasty, had it built in 1506. Its name comes from the rajbirs, or masons, who settled in the area in the early 20th century. A mosque and a tomb stand within its enclosure.

Steps descend from the north to the water, while high walls close the east and west sides. Along these walls runs a narrow walkway with twelve pillars on each side framing arched niches, and a pillared verandah with arches in the north Indian style of the time surrounds the courtyard. The air grows cooler as the steps lead down towards the water. The Jamali Kamali mosque and tomb and the tomb of Balban are nearby in the park.
