The story

Sanjeevaiah Park is a public park of 92 acres on the bank of Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of Hyderabad, named after Damodaram Sanjivayya, a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and managed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. It won the Best Open Landscape award at the 2010 INTACH awards and flies the second tallest Indian flag.

In 2004 plans were drawn up for an aerial tramway across the lake to Lumbini Park, water sports and an amusement park, but a regional wildlife advisory board study warned that the park's plants and animals needed protection and the scheme was judged harmful. A 2010 proposal instead kept the environment intact, avoiding concrete structures and suggesting night lighting and conservation measures. Solar lighting followed, along with sculptures made from recycled material under the Hyderabad Eco Art Project and a ban on plastic in the park.
