The story

Safilguda Lake, originally Nadimi Cheruvu, lies in Safilguda hamlet of Neredmet village, Secunderabad. Its small wooded island, Nadimi Bird Island, draws a variety of wildlife, especially migratory birds, and the Katta Misamma Temple stands on the shore. The road around the water resembles Necklace Road on the Hussain Sagar tank bund, earning it the name Mini Tank Bund.

In 2000 the lake was restored by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority as part of the Green Hyderabad Environment Programme, and the adjoining Safilguda Lake Park became a favourite with nearby residents for jogging and evening walks. Several films have been shot here, including the popular song 'Elluvochi Godaramma'. In later years poor maintenance allowed the lake to become polluted.
