The Regional Museum of Natural History in Mysuru is devoted to the environment, wildlife and nature conservation. Its displays are split between two galleries. Biological Diversity presents the plants, animals and geology of the region, while Life Through the Ages traces the formation of the earth and the beginnings of life, partly through a walk-through tunnel meant to suggest a journey back in time.
A Discovery Centre lets visitors, children especially, handle specimens at close quarters. The museum also runs creative sessions such as painting, modelling, making animal masks and designing costumes, using them to bring home its conservation message.
