The story

Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary lies in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district and is one of 21 wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka. Its highest point is Pushpagiri, also called Kumara Parvatha, and the Kadamakkal reserve forest falls within its limits.

The sanctuary is noted as a home for rare and endangered birds. It does not stand alone: the Bisle reserve forest adjoins it on the north and the Kukke Subramanya forest range on the west. It has also been put forward as a candidate for World Heritage status.
