Paruthipattu Lake, also known as Avadi Lake, lies behind the Tamil Nadu Housing Board area and Thirumullaivoyal in Avadi, Chennai. Fed by surplus water from an unpolluted stretch of the Cooum River, it is said rarely to have dried up, once watered farmland, and still recharges groundwater nearby. Long neglected and shrunk by encroachment to about 8 acres, it was restored by the Water Resources Department in two phases from 2018 at a cost of ₹280 million, and opened as the city's second eco-park, after Chetput Lake, on 21 June 2019.
The park has a 3 km walking track, a children's play area, a boat deck with three landings, an open-air theatre, a central plaza and a refreshment block. A couple of islands have been made for nesting birds, and some 35 kinds of plants grow around the shore. A sewage treatment plant on the bank is designed to pump recycled water into the lake.
