Marmala Waterfall lies a few kilometres from Erattupetta in Kottayam district, about 8 km from Teekoy and some 45 km from Kottayam railway station. The water falls about 40 m into a pool 12 m deep and flows on into the Teekoy river.
Getting there takes some effort. The last paved road ends at Teekoy, a rubber estate, after which comes a 5 km off-road ride and a 2 km walk across an estate on a slippery, rocky path. A road from Mangalagiri to the falls was under construction when the article was written.
