The story

Manimajra Fort stands in Mani Majra, Chandigarh, and is described as more than 360 years old. Gharib Dass Dhillon raised it as the seat of a small state of 84 villages that he had carved out, and he in turn accepted the authority of Patiala State. The last ruler of the line, Bhagwan Singh Dhillon, had no children, and the government then took over the fort's property. After a court case, ownership passed to heirs of the last raja of Faridkot. The fort drew fresh attention when scenes for the Oscar-winning film Zero Dark Thirty were shot here.

Today the fort is in poor condition and deteriorating. Its walls are crumbling and overgrown with weeds, and people from the surrounding area use its grounds as a playground and for parking vehicles.
