The story

Mangala Temple stands in Patia village in Bhubaneswar and was built in the 19th century. It lies in the Harijan sahi, a residential ward of Patia, and the people who live there look after it. A concrete hall stands to its east, with homes on the other three sides.

The goddess Mangala stands on a pedestal with four arms, holding a conch in the upper right hand and a wheel in the lower left, while the other two hands show the varada and abhaya mudras. The shrine is a square pidha deula about 4.6 m tall, set on a low square platform. It is built of laterite in ashlar masonry in the Kalinga style, then finished with cement plaster and whitewash.
