The story

Kondazhy Tritham Tali Siva Temple stands on the banks of the Gayathripuzha, a tributary of the Bharathappuzha, at Kondazhy in Thrissur district, and was an important temple of the Cochin kingdom. Legend says Parashurama installed the Shiva idol on the south bank of the Nila, and it is one of Kerala's 108 Shiva temples. Under Chera rule, when Kerala was split into eighteen units each headed by a major Shiva temple, this was the central one.

The grounds hold a separate temple to Parvathi and 11 sub-deities, among them Ganapathi, Subrahmanya and Ayyappan, Mahavishnu, Bhadrakali, the Navagrahas, Hanuman and the serpent gods. The temple is said to have been wrecked during Tipu Sultan's invasion of Kerala, and its sculpture remained broken for nearly two hundred years.
