01 — The story

The story

Katary Falls is roughly 10 km from Coonoor, in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district. At 55 m high, it is described as the third largest waterfall in the Nilgiris, and it is reached by trekking.

The falls also have a place in the history of electricity in India. They are the site of the Kateri hydroelectric system, which is described as the country's first hydel power plant, so the spot marks an early chapter in Indian hydropower as well as a walk in the Nilgiri hills.
