The story

Jakhu Temple is an old Hindu temple dedicated to Hanuman, standing on Jakhu Hill, the highest point in Shimla, at about 2,455 metres and some 2.5 km east of the Ridge. A Dussehra festival is held here every year; until 1972 it took place at Annadale.

The temple is best known for the giant Hanuman statue, 108 feet tall, unveiled on 4 November 2010 at a cost of 1.5 crore rupees. Visitors can climb up on foot, ride a horse, take a taxi, or use the Jakhu Ropeway, opened in 2017, which runs up from a point near the centre of Shimla.
