The story

Farah Bagh, also called Faria Bagh, is a palace in Ahmednagar built by the Nizam Shahi rulers. It formed the heart of a large palace complex finished in 1583 and was kept as a private retreat of the royal household. Murtaza Nizam Shah I often came here for games of chess with a singer from Delhi whom he called Fateh Shah, for whom he also built a separate mahal, the Lakad Mahal, in the garden.

The central eight-sided palace now stands in ruins, and of its pond only an embankment remains. Between the garden and the city stand seventy domes and forty mosques, said to hold the tombs of many royal favourites.
