The story

The Dakshinamoorthy and Navgraha EME Temple stands in the campus of the Indian Army's Electronics and Mechanical Engineers School in Vadodara, which built it in 1966 and still runs it. It was raised under Brigadier A. F. Eugene, the school's first commandant, himself a Christian. Dedicated to Shiva as Dakshinamoorthy, the teacher, its main idol faces south.

Its design draws on the geodesic dome of Buckminster Fuller and deliberately combines elements of several religions: a Hindu kalasha crowns an Islamic-style dome, the tower over the idol stands for Christianity, a golden top follows Buddhist principles, the entrance follows Jain tradition and a havan kund represents Zoroastrianism. A silver arch engraved with Om Namah Shivaya stands behind the idol, and there is a replica of the Amarnath lingam. Some 108 old stone statues of Hindu deities, dated 600–1600 CE, are set about the grounds among lawns and fountains. A Navgraha temple was added in 2023. The temple opens 6 am to 9 pm daily, and Maha Shivratri and Janmashtami draw thousands.
