The story

Dibbesvara Temple, also called Dibbalingeswara Swamy or Dibbi Lingeswara Temple, is a medieval Shiva temple in the village of Saripalli, Vizianagaram district, in north-eastern Andhra Pradesh. It has the status of a Monument of National Importance, cared for by the Archaeological Survey of India through its Amaravati Circle.

The temple is built in the Kalinga, or Nagara, manner as a Rekha Deul: a stone sanctum on a square plan, crowned by a curving shikhara that climbs in stacked tiers known as bhumis. On the evidence of its architecture and sculpture it is usually placed between the 7th and 10th centuries CE, and Shaivite imagery appears on its walls. A Kalinga-type shrine in this district points to the religious and artistic exchange that once connected this part of Andhra with Odisha.
