Ramadri Temple, also called Hamsavanam Punyakshetram, sits on a hill beside the Bheemili Beach road in Visakhapatnam, overlooking the Bay of Bengal. Its best-known feature is a 40-foot statue of Hanuman carved from white marble. The World Teacher Trust looks after the temple and keeps it as a space for meditation.
Tradition traces the temple to the 11th century AD under the Cholas, whose kings are said to have raised it in honour of Lord Rama, linked in legend to his exile from Ayodhya. It has been renovated and extended several times, and pilgrims from across India come to worship Rama here.
