Dhawa Doli Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected stretch of scrub and rocky hills about 45 km from Jodhpur. The terrain mixes low hills, outcrops of rock and hardy desert vegetation, and the reserve is best known for its blackbuck, which graze in the open, along with desert foxes and other antelope.
Birdlife is a major draw, with more than 200 species recorded. Residents include the Indian eagle-owl, the crested serpent eagle and the peafowl, and migrants arrive in winter, so the sanctuary is popular with birdwatchers and wildlife photographers looking for desert species.
