01 — The story

The story

Deulajhari, described as an ancient citadel of Shaivism, lies in Deulajhari village in the Athmallik subdivision of Angul district, Odisha. The site spreads over about 24 acres and is wooded with native pandanus, known locally as kiabana.

It is known for its hot water and for the Shiva temple of Shree Siddheswar Baba. Twenty-four hot springs rise around the temple today, though the temple's own records say there were once 84 of them.
