01 — The story

The story

Deer Park Neelon is a small protected wildlife area at Neelon in Ludhiana district, set up as a green refuge away from the industrial city. Its varied green landscape gives shelter to a mix of native trees, flowering plants and animals, and the park is run with conservation in mind, including care for species that have become scarce in the region.

Most visitors come for quiet walks along its paths and for birdwatching, since a good number of resident and visiting bird species can be seen in the different habitats. The park also works as an outdoor classroom: talks and workshops on conservation and sustainable living are organised for visitors and the wider local community.
