The story

Deer Park, officially the Aditya Nath Jha Deer Park after a well-known social worker, is a natural park in the Hauz Khas area of South Delhi, run by the Delhi Development Authority. Together with the adjoining District Park, which holds Hauz Khas lake, and the Rose Garden, it forms one of the largest green spaces in New Delhi, called 'the lungs of Delhi'. Entrances lie on the Green Park, Safdarjung Enclave and Hauz Khas Village sides.

A large enclosure houses many deer, and there are also a Duck Park, rabbit enclosures and picnic spots, popular for walks and weekend outings. North-west of the lake stands Munda Gumbad, the 'bald' or domeless tomb, a rubble pavilion built by Alauddin Khilji in 1295; square and raised on a platform, it has arches on every side; it is said once to have stood in the middle of the lake. Entry is free, with opening hours of 5 am to 8 pm in summer and 5.30 am to 7 pm in winter.
