The story

Cuttack Chandi Temple is a shrine to the goddess Chandi in the city of Cuttack. A local legend tells of a man named Hansa Panda who saw the goddess in a dream; she guided him to her idol, buried in the ground where the temple now stands. Devotees hold that the shrine has healing power, and many come here looking for comfort.

The temple's busiest time is the yearly Durga Puja and Kali Puja season. The celebrations run for 16 days, from Ashwina Krishna Ashtami to Vijayadashami, and bring large crowds of worshippers from near and far to honour Chandi.
