The story

Banjara Virasat Museum at Poharadevi in the Washim district of Maharashtra honours the Banjara people, nomadic tribes from Rajasthan now settled across India. The foundation stone was laid in 2018, and the Prime Minister inaugurated it on 5 October 2024. Part of its aim is to establish the Poharadevi area as a cultural and religious destination.

Designed by Design Habit Delhi, the building rises four storeys and has thirteen galleries of historical exhibits, covering the traditions and history of the community, its leaders and movements, and artefacts of its ways of life. A 150-foot Sevadhwaj and a statue of Sant Sevalal Maharaj on horseback stand at the museum, and a light and music laser show runs daily at about 7 pm.
