The Aryadurga Devi temple stands in Devihasol village, Rajapur taluka, about 18 km from Rajapur and 52 km from Ratnagiri. The goddess is the kuldevi of many Karhade Brahmins, and her main seat is at Ankola in Karnataka. A well-known fair for Aryadurga and Navadurga is held each year on the eighth day of Navratri.
Local tradition tells of Palsule Desai, a devotee from near Hasol who travelled to Ankola every year to worship the goddess. Grown old, he told her this would be his final visit, and that night she appeared in a dream, promising to follow him home so long as he never looked back. At the edge of Devihasol he heard her anklets, turned in curiosity, and saw her for an instant before she vanished. Her footprints appeared where she had stood, the temple was built on that spot, and the prints are still shown inside.
