Amitabh Bachchan Falls, whose proper name is Bhewma Falls, is a waterfall beside the road that links Chungthang with the Yumthang Valley, in the Lachung area of North Sikkim. The popular name is believed to come from the Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, known for being very tall.
Lachung village sits on the rugged bank of the Lachung River, about 23 km from Chungthang, where the Lachung and Lachen rivers meet to form the Teesta. The Lachung is one of the Teesta's chief tributaries, and its clear water is joined along the way by a number of waterfalls and smaller streams.
