Vazhukaruteeswarar Temple is a Shiva temple on Gandhi Road in Kanchipuram. It draws people hoping for success in court cases, who believe a visit will see their troubles resolved, and many politicians are among them.
The lingam, known as Vazhukaruteeswarar, has 16 shades. According to the temple's legend, the Devas and asuras set it up and worshipped it while trying to grasp the meaning of 'sat' and 'asat', and Shiva appeared to settle their doubt, which gave him his name. In the southern part of the temple is a second lingam, Parasara Easwarar, said to have been installed by the sage Parasara.
