The story

Udayamperoor Ekadasi Perumthrikovil is an ancient Shiva temple at Udayamperoor in Ernakulam district, Kerala, and one of the 108 famous Shiva temples of the state; folklore says Parashurama installed its idol. One of the big Shiva temples of Kerala, it stands in a courtyard of about four acres and is a classic example of the Kerala style, with monumental towers, a round sanctum and a mukha mandapa in the Kerala-Dravidian manner. The sanctum is dedicated to Shiva, with a place for Parvati facing west.

The temple is associated with three early inscriptions from the 12th and 13th centuries. Two are damaged, but the third, on the base of the namaskara mandapa, is well preserved.
