The story

Tulian Lake, or Tulian Sar, is a high lake in Anantnag district, lying at about 3,684 metres some 16 km southwest of Pahalgam and 11 km beyond the meadow of Baisaran. It belongs to the Great Himalayan range.

Mountains topping 4,800 metres, usually under snow, enclose the lake on three sides, and chunks of ice are often seen drifting on the water. The lake sits in a meadow scattered with pine forest, a contrast of green slopes, white peaks and icy water that rewards those who make the journey up from the Pahalgam side.
