The story

Thiruvaloor Mahadeva Temple stands in Thiruvaloor kara of Alangad village, Ernakulam district, and is counted among the well-known Shiva temples of Kerala. Its idol is believed to be an Agni Pratishta, with Shiva's third eye open.

A pond lies to the east, in line with the idol in the sreekovil; it is believed to have been placed there to temper the fire thought to stream from the idol, which might otherwise harm people. Ganapati is also worshipped, and the subsidiary Keezhanikavu shrine next door holds images of Vishnu, Bhagavati and the Nagas.
